Field Tour: The use of Prescribed Burns in the Greater Kitchener Area

In partnership with the Wildfire 2010 conference organizers, Tallgrass Ontario and the Ministry of Natural Resources East Fire Region will be organizing a field trip to examine and discuss previous prescribed burns in the Kitchener area.

This field site visit will examine the ecological role of prescribed burns in a variety of unique tallgrass prairie and woodland ecosystems. We will look at burns conducted on private property (aggregate and golf course) and conservation lands, discussing the role of communications, partnerships and stressing safety messages for all when burning in and around the extensive values and population areas such as Southern Ontario
